McDonald's to Close for Several Months

The Fair Oaks Avenue fast food restaurant will upgrade its decades-old building, and in the process, scrap the children's play area.

If you have a hankering for a Big Mac over the next few months, you'll have to follow your appetite right out of the city, as the McDonald's at 716 Fair Oaks Ave. is closing to remodel.

A sleek, modern look will replace the restaurant's older, traditional design, according to a rendering from the architectural and engineering firm Ware Malcomb. But what won't be replaced is the restaurant's PlayPlace, the small, fenced-in play area in front of the restaurant, Shift Manager Matthew Scudieri said Tuesday.

A phone call to McDonald's corporate offices was not immediately returned Tuesday.

Scudieri said the Fair Oaks Avenue location will close Wednesday for about four months, and during that time period the employees will be transferred temporarily to other restaurants.
