Videotheque in South Pasadena has been paying tribute to foreign and independent films for years, and with St. Patrick's Day coming up, Patch popped into the store to check out what kind of Irish-themed cinema was available.

The store, which turned 10 years old this month, treats its library of DVD movies the same way some wine retailers treat their wines. Movies are sectioned off into countries -- Italy, France, and in the spirit of March, Ireland. Some sections are dedicated to featured certain directors from particular countries.

Here's what owner Mark Wright suggested off the top of his head for Irish-tinged selections:

  • Darby O'Gill and the Little People (Sean Connery)
  • The Quiet Man ("It's John Wayne, in Ireland," said Wright)
  • Leprechaun in the Hood (Warwick Davis, Ice-T)
  • The Secret of the Kells (Oscar-nominated animated movie)
  • Anything tied to Oscar Wilde, such as The Picture of Dorian Gray

Wright also mentioned the possibility of a "green wall" of movie choices when St. Patrick's Day comes around on March 17.
