Testimony Continues in Trial of Pasadena and SouthPas Arson Suspect
Javier Adolfo Viera, who is accused of setting or trying to set a series of fires in Pasadena, South Pasadena and Los Angeles.
Viera is charged with 10 counts of arson of a structure or forest, six counts of arson of property of another and two counts of attempting or aiding in an attempt to burn a structure, forest or property.
The incidents started as small vegetation fires and escalated to blazes set under or involving parked vehicles, and one involving the exterior door to a business.
Police arrested Viera in May 2013, after surveillance allegedly showed him sparking a car fire in the 6100 block of North Oak Hill in Los Angeles. One day earlier, a car was torched in the 400 block of Arroyo Drive. Since November, police believe Viera was responsible for sparking 21 fires in South Pasadena, four in Pasadena and one in Los Angeles.
