South City Students Win Bus Art Contest

The art contest is countywide involving more than 30 schools.

South City Students Win Bus Art Contest

Six elementary school students from South San Francisco, San Carlos, Belmont, Pacifica and Redwood City will be awarded for their "Art Takes a Bus Ride" art entries on Wednesday, May 9 at 2 p.m., having been selected from more than 300 submissions.

The winning entries will be displayed on a exterior “bus wrap” on a SamTrans bus which will be in regular service throughout the District’s service area for the next year.

The artists range from first to sixth grade and will be in attendance at the awards ceremony.  The winners will receive a SamTrans monthly pass, a certificate and a framed copy of the bus card that displays their artwork, as well as an assortment of art supplies.

"Art Takes a Bus Ride" is a joint initiative from SamTrans and the San Mateo County Office of Education to give young artists a venue to exhibit their work.

The event will be held at San Mateo County Transit District board meeting, located at 1250 San Carlos Ave, San Carlos on Wednesday, May 9 at 2 p.m.
