Fire Rips Through Studio City Shopping Center

A fire tore through a Studio City shopping center on Ventura Boulevard Friday morning.

STUDIO CITY, CA — A stubborn fire tore through a two-story Studio City strip mall Friday morning.

The blaze in the 12200 block of West Ventura Boulevard at up two stories of the shopping center, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The fire was reported about 7:45 a.m., and it took about 70 firefighters nearly an hour to knock it down.

"After extinguishing the bulk of the fire on the 1st floor and 2nd floor mezzanine, firefighters chased down a stubborn fire in the walls between the unit of origin and an adjacent business," according to Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Margaret Stewart.

Crews worked to salvage the contents of the businesses, she added. No injuries were reported. The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
