A pre-dawn Glendale house fire Wednesday caused $500,000 in damage to the structure and contents and left one firefighter with a minor injury, a battalion chief said.
When firefighters arrived at 240 Jesse Ave. early Wednesday morning, heavy fire was showing from a garage at the rear of the home, said Battalion Chief Bill Lynch.
With the assistance of the Burbank Fire Department, firefighters launched an aggressive attack in order to protect neighboring properties, he said.
Family members were already out of the house because a neighbor had alerted them to the flames, Lynch said.
Significant damage resulted to the garage, kitchen and common living area of the home, and the attic was also damaged because of the excessive heat and smoke, he said. The fire was completely knocked down shortly before 4 a.m.
