Hunt Is on for Micky's Dognappers

VAN NUYS, CA - A dog stolen from a Van Nuys residence has been found, but two women who took the animal remain at large today, police said. The dog-napping happened Saturday in the 13000 block of Erwin Street.

"The victim went to look for her dog 'Micky' and couldn't find him," said Los Angeles police Officer Liliana Preciado.

"She reviewed her surveillance system and saw that a suspect picked up Micky from the front yard and walked out onto the sidewalk," Preciado said. "The suspect was then met with another suspect and they both walked away eastbound on Erwin Street with Micky."

Police this morning put out a call for public help to find the dog and the suspects. This afternoon, police reported that the canine had been found and returned to his owner, but the circumstances of the recovery of the animal were not released.

Authorities are still looking for the women who took the dog, with both suspects described as Hispanic and about 5 feet 3 inches tall. The first woman weighed about 160 pounds and the second woman weighed about 130 pounds.
