Tasty Tidbits: Umami, Stout in Studio City and More

Stout Burgers has finally opened its second location in Studio City (the first is in Hollywood).  Stop by for the $10 gourmet burger with a choice of  beef that is fresh ground in-house daily, organic chicken or the veggie patty which is made from quinoa and a bean base.   Fixings includes such ingredients as fig jam, brie, gruyere, rosemary bacon, roasted tomatoes and egg over easy.  Special sauces include lemon basil aoili, chipotle ketchup and tzaztiki. Try bread pudding  or a brownie sundae for dessert.   The Stout menu pairs the perfect beer with each burger.  Ask about the secret menu. Open at 11:30 a.m. daily until midnight on weekdays and 1 a.m. weekends.  11262 Ventura Blvd Studio City, (818) 505-0076

Bow & Truss in North Hollywood is serving up Sunday brunch starting this weekend.  Look for stuffed waffles, crepes, breakfast tacos, chilaquiles and a variety of egg dishes.  Entrees $5-$10. 11122 Magnolia Blvd. North Hollywood, (818) 985-8787

Coming next week to  Umami Thousand Oaks—black mission fig ice cream from our fave  LA Creamery.  Umami will also be be scooping out mint chip, coconut, honeycomb, chocolate hazelnut, salted caramel, cookies & cream, raspberry sorbet and summer peach sorbet. Crossing fingers more  flavors get to Umami Valli in Studio City soon too.  In the meantime,   Olive and Thymethe farm to table eateryin Toluca Lake, is carrying pints of LA Creamery…this week you’ll find Chimay (yes, like the beer), peanut butter chocolate and salted caramel.
