Assemblywoman Marie Waldron Sworn Into Office

Assemblywoman Marie Waldron, R- Escondido, was sworn into office today as the newest representative for the 75th Assembly District, which includes the city of Temecula.

“I am honored to take the oath of office to represent and serve my constituents in San Diego and Riverside Counties,” she said in a released statement. “As a new Assemblymember, I will represent all the diverse communities of my new district. As a small business owner, I am especially concerned about our working families and small businesses. They are struggling and need a voice in Sacramento to champion job creation, economic growth and fiscal reform.”

said she is already working on priorities.

“My constituents have entrusted me to represent their voice. For that reason, community outreach will be a critical priority for me. I am excited to launch a Latino outreach program in my District Office, to build a strong relationship with this vital and growing community. As a child of immigrants, I know that we all want the same thing — access to the American dream and a better life for our children. We have much common ground to build upon,” she said.

Waldron offered that education and job training are also part of her outreach program.

“As a mother, I am also excited to build a youth outreach effort to provide internships for the students at our local high schools and colleges,” she said. “Real world experience is an essential part of the education process, especially in these difficult economic times. I look forward to providing opportunities for as many local students as possible.”

Before her election to the State Assembly, Waldron served the City of Escondido as a councilmember since 1998. She is also a founding member of the California Women’s Leadership Association and she's a small business owner.

The 75th Assembly District encompasses northern San Diego County and southern Riverside County, including Escondido, San Marcos, Valley Center, Fallbrook, San Elijo Hills, Rainbow, Bonsall, Temecula, and surrounding communities.
