Alleged Flasher Pleads Not Guilty

A convicted sex offender who allegedly flashed a woman in a playground pleaded not guilty to a single count of indecent exposure Wednesday.

Michael Welch, 39, was arrested on suspicion of indecent exposure around 3:30 p.m. Monday at Serena Hills Park in the 40700 block of Walcott Lane.

Welch made his first court appearance at the Southwest Justice Center, where Riverside County Superior Court Judge Michael J. Rushton increased bail to $50,000.

The suspect also has a prior indecent exposure conviction from 2011 and was on that conviction when this latest arrest occurred.

He was remanded back into custody.

A felony settlement conference was set for May 23 and a May 30 preliminary hearing date was tentatively scheduled.
