Large Police Presence in Old Town Temecula Sparked by 'Suspicious Person' Call

Large Police Presence in Old Town Temecula Sparked by 'Suspicious Person' Call
Temecula police were called out Wednesday to a local hotel to investigate a report of a suspicious person, Patch has learned.

According to Riverside County Sheriff's Spokesman Deputy Albert Martinez, officers were sent to the area of the Rodeway Inn on Old Town Front Street around 3:30 p.m. after getting the report from an anonymous caller.

"Somebody called in about a suspicious person," Martinez told Patch by telephone around 6:30 p.m.

Martinez said area residents may have noticed several officers on scene because there was a large area to search.

"It was a big property so they had multiple officers," he said.  "They are still looking into it to see why someone called."

The Press Enterprise reports that someone was detained at the scene just before 5 p.m.

Some area roadways were closed during the search.

Patch will update this breaking news story as more information becomes available.
