Man, 27, Found Shot to Death on Thanksgiving in Riverside

A motive for the attack was unknown, according to police.

The body of a 27-year-old man was found shot to death in the middle of a Riverside street on Thanksgiving, a police lieutenant said.

The dead man was found lying on Kansas Avenue near Twelfth Street just after 1 a.m. Thursday, Riverside police Lt. Skip Showalter said. Arriving officers found the man in the road with a gunshot wound to his head.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, he said.

Showalter said detectives don’t yet know if the man was killed there or whether his body was dumped in the road. The victim’s name was withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Riverside police Sgt. Bill McCoy told ABC7 “we had another gang-related shooting on Kansas Avenue recently. So it’s going to be difficult to solve this.”
