Pechanga Cancels Margarita and Tequila Festival

Updated at 7:58 p.m. Sept. 5

announced Tuesday that it has canceled its Margarita and Tequila Festival scheduled for Sept. 15.

The cancellation was due to "scheduling conflicts," Spokesperson Robert Bledsoe said, in an emailed announcement.

The inaugural Pechanga Resort & Casino event was to occur from 1 p.m to 4 p.m. on the Saturday before Mexican Independence Day (Sept. 16) in the Temecula venue's grand ballroom.

"We had both this festival and Larry Hernandez booked for Mexican Independence Day," Bledsoe told Patch, in an email.

"However, Larry was already booked for Friday and this type of daytime festival cannot be held on a week day," Bledsoe said.

"Thus, people coming out Friday for Larry were not looking to return the next day if they could not secure a room. Furthermore, many of our tequila vendors were already participating in the Spirits of Mexico festival in San Diego which would limit their involvement here."

Bledsoe apologized for the inconvenience and said all pre-purchased tickets would be fully refunded.

Those seeking refunds should call or visit the Pechanga Box Office at 877-711-2946 between noon and 8 p.m. seven days a week, he said.

It was too soon to tell whether they would plan a similar event next year around Mexican Independence Day, Bledsoe said.

"However, we are planning more food and drink festivals like this as they are some of our guests' favorite events."
