Temecula Birthday Turns Violent When Murrieta Woman Apparently Attacks Another

A woman suspected of stabbing an acquaintance during a Temecula birthday party was being held Friday in lieu of $1 million bail.

Stephanie N. Federico, 23, of Murrieta was arrested Thursday on suspicion of attempted murder after allegedly attacking a woman at a restaurant in the 41500 block of Margarita Road, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

Sheriff's Sgt. Jon Wade alleged Federico was angry with the victim, identified only as a 28-year-old woman, and went to the restaurant "for the sole purpose" of assaulting her.

The nature of their dispute was not disclosed.

Deputies were called to the location about 8:45 p.m., immediately after the attack, and found the victim with two non-life-threatening stab wounds, according to Wade.

A description of the suspect was radioed to other deputies in the area, and a patrol unit spotted Federico running away, Wade said.

A deputy quickly apprehended her without incident.

The victim was transported to a hospital for treatment. Federico was booked into the Robert Presley Jail in Riverside.
