Temecula Senior Struck in Hit-and-Run Crash: Police

Police are hoping someone may have spotted the driver.

TEMECULA, CA - Temecula police are asking for the public's help in tracking down a person who hit an elderly woman as she crossed a local road, and then fled the scene.

The victim, whose name was not released, was hit about 8 a.m. Monday on Margarita Road, just north of Rustic Glen Drive, according to Sgt. William Pratt of the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.  She suffered injuries described as "serious."

"The driver fled the scene without stopping to render aid or identify himself," said Pratt.

Witnesses called 911, and the victim was taken to a Wildomar trauma center minutes later.

According to Pratt, investigators confirmed the driver was a man, but no other details were available. The vehicle was described as a 1990s "primer black" Ford Mustang with a missing hood and bright green paint in the engine compartment.

"The vehicle likely has damage to the front end from the collision," Pratt said.
