Local Architect Honored by Non-Profit Arts Group

A Venice architect will be honored by a Manhattan Beach nonprofit it at its annual fundraising event.

Patrick J. Killen, 60, will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Foundation for Local Arts for his work in the community on Feb. 1.

In addition to being an architect, Killen is also a painter. He started painting about 10 years ago and is still working on perfecting his technique.

“I’ve always prided myself in giving back to the community, from coaching kids’ soccer teams to serving as a Manhattan Beach arts commissioner,” he told the Easy Reader News. “I’m grateful for those opportunities.”

Killen was born in Ohio but considers the South Bay home. His architect firm, Studio 9one2, is based in Manhattan Beach and he has lived in Hermosa, Manhattan Beach, Rolling Hills Estates and now Venice.

For more information about the fundraising event, or to purchase tickets, visit foundationoflocalarts.com. Proceeds from the fundraiser will benefit local youth arts.
