Venice High School Teacher Receives Award

Venice High School will become the only high school in California to offer a nationally accredited graphic arts program.

Venice High School Teacher Receives Award

The largest graphic arts organization announced on Monday that it has awarded Art Lindauer, a Venice High School teacher, with its 2012 Education Award of Excellence.

Printing Industries of America, a graphic arts trade group, established the award as a way to recognize teacher’s success in graphic arts education and training.

Lindauer recently received $3 million in grants from the state and the Los Angeles Unified School District to upgrade printing equipment at the school. He also started an after-school club with the Venice Boys & Girls Club to promote instructional programs with graphic arts trade and industry groups.

And, Lindauer is in the process of establishing a nationally accredited program for graphic communications courses at Venice High School – which will make it the only high school in the state to offer its students this accreditation program.

He will be presented the Education Award of Excellence on Oct. 7 at the GRAPH EXPO in Chicago, Ill.
