Venice Looks To Streamline Development Process

The community says it shouldn’t have to receive development approval from both the LA City Council and the California Coastal Commission.

Venice Looks To Streamline Development Process

Wanting to streamline and expedite the development process in what many locals already consider an overdeveloped area, developers and some locals are seeking a way to cut development approval time, reports The Los Angeles Times.

Currently, both the City of Los Angeles and the California Coastal Commission must weigh in on any development proposals.

According to the Timesarticle, Venice is working to create its own local coastal “program,” to help with that process.

CD 11 Councilmember Mike Bonin told the Times he wants to get “Venice out from under the thumb of the Coastal Commission.”
