A shoutout to water polo gold medalist Melissa Seidemann of Walnut Creek and synchronized swimmer Mariya Koroleva of Walnut Creek and Concord, and other county Olympians.

Water polo gold medalist Melissa Seidemann of Walnut Creek and synchronized swimmer Mariya Koroleva of Concord and Walnut Creek got the local hero treatment Tuesday from the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors.

Other water polo gold medalists feted were Danville's water polo gold medalists Jessica and Maggie Steffens, and Orinda's Heather Petri.

Also featured was three-time gold medalist swimmer Dana Vollmer, of Richmond, along with fellow swimmer Natalie Coughlin, of Lafayette.

Vollmer won gold in the 100-meter butterfly -- setting a world record time of 55.98 seconds -- as well as the 4-by-100-meter medley relay and the 4-by-200-meter freestyle relay. Coughlin won bronze in the 4-by-100-meter freestyle relay.

Others recognized Tuesday morning were bronze medal-winning synchronized springboard diver Kristian Ipsen, of Clayton; bronze medalist in the women's quadruple sculls Kara Kohler, of Clayton; men's rower Anthony Fahden, of Lafayette; and men's water polo team member Peter Varellas.
