Driver Rescued From Crashed, Burning Car Friday Morning In Walnut Creek

The accident was at Treat Boulevard and San Simeon Drive.

A driver was rescued from a burning car and hospitalized after a crash in Walnut Creek this morning, a Contra Costa County Fire Protection District captain said.

The one-car crash happened around 8 a.m. at the intersection of Treat Boulevard and San Simeon Drive, where crews arrived to find a driver trapped inside a partially ablaze vehicle, fire Capt. Kent Kirby said.

Fire personnel quickly put out the fire and were able to extricate the driver in about 15 minutes, Kirby said.

The driver was taken to a hospital with moderate injuries but no burns, he said. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
