Older Man Injured After Being Hit By A Car While Crossing North California Boulevard

Police say the man wasn't in a crosswalk when he was struck and suffered major injuries

Older Man Injured After Being Hit By A Car While Crossing North California Boulevard
A man in his 70s suffered serious injuries after he was hit by a car while crossing North California Boulevard on Monday morning.

The man was hit by a Chevy Camaro driven by a man in his 30s at 10:47 a.m., according to Walnut Creek Police Sgt. Mike Sugrue.

The pedestrian was not in a crosswalk and was crossing the busy boulevard between Ygnacio Valley Road and Pringle Avenue, said Sugrue.

The man suffered "major injuries" but is expected to survive, said Sugrue.

The Camaro driver stopped after the collision and is cooperating with police.

"We don't suspect any criminal activity on the part of the driver," said Sugrue.

Sugrue wouldn't release the name of the pedestrian or the driver.

John Muir Medical Center officials said it's against state law for them to release the condition of a patient without that patient's name.
