5:58am, 1300 block of Broadway Plaza – Someone thought it would be an excellent idea to throw a chair at a brand new car on display, damaging the car. The lockbox on the car was also broken, and five nearby clay pots. Someone needs to get a brand new life.

10:00am, 1500 block of Sunnyvale Ave. – Finding a black Mazda unlocked, an unknown person took it for an invitation to help themselves to an iPod and some change. They also tried to take the radio. Reminder: don’t make it easy for these people. Lock your car.

Monday, Dec. 17, 2012

12:21am, corner of Ygnacio Valley Blvd. and Bancroft Rd. – A man was arrested and taken to county jail after he was reported driving the wrong way, swerving and finally hitting something (fortunately not someone).

5:18am, 1100 block of Locust St. – A heavy set African American man stole over $15,000 from a business after entering the front of the business with a key.

5:27am, 2700 block of N. Main St. – An armed robbery occurred; the thief used a semi-automatic pistol.

9:07am, 1500 block of California Blvd. – Demonstrating a spectacular lack of planning and observation, a thief broke into the pay station of a public parking lot only to discover that the station was no longer in operation.

1:58pm, 100 block Mayhew Way – A resident came home to find a strange white van parked in the driveway. The van owner drove off when the resident came home to find the front door forced open but with the chain still on. Nothing was taken.

12:09pm, 2700 block of Oak Rd. – Police gave “extensive” advice about scams and mail fraud to a man who believed he won the lottery and was trying to cash checks that turned out to be no good.

1:27pm, North Main St. and Parkside Dr. – A man in his 50s with no shirt and white pants was northbound on Main St. yelling at passing cars. He was gone by the time police got there.

Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012

5:40am, 600 block Joshua Ct. – A man was preparing to go for a run in the early morning when he spotted someone near his friend’s white Honda Prelude. When he returned from his run, the car was gone. Police determined it had been stolen.

6:43am, 2300 block of Ygnacio Valley Rd. – A very hungry yet nasty person, seeing a bag of baked goods in a car, smashed the window and grabbed the bag.

6:55am, 3600 block of Arbolado Dr. – Someone broke into the city’s storage shed and stole $7,000 worth of power tools. Feeling injury wasn’t enough in this case, the person attempted insult by trying, unsuccessfully, to burn down the shed.

10:20pm, 2500 block of Golden Rain Dr. – About $3,000 worth of jewelry was stolen from a home where the burglar entered through the front door.

Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012

5:23am, 1200 block of Broadway Plaza – Two men were seen in a brown Oldsmobile in the lower level of the parking garage, both with seats all the way back. Upon investigation, officers found the men were waiting for the exclusive release of Air Jordans at Nordstrom that morning.

8:15am, 1900 block of N. Main St. – A woman reported paying $1,200 for three Southwest Airline tickets she bought from a young man at Fuddrucker’s. The tickets turned out to be counterfeit, and she advised police that she is seeing ads for airline tickets by the same man.

11:04am, 1900 block of Mt. Diablo Blvd. – A smash-and-grab resulted in the loss of a purse and an iPad.

1:32pm, 100 block of Pioneer Ave. – A woman saw two men walk into her back yard. When they saw her, they ran back to their car, a Honda. Police contacted the CHP for assistance in finding the men.

7:59am, 2900 block of Corte del Prado – A 2011 silver Chevy Impala was stolen.

8:27pm, 200 block of Sierra Dr. – A rear door window was broken and $40,000 in jewelry, electronics and other items were stolen.

Friday, Dec. 21, 2012

1:50am, 1600 block California Blvd. – The moral of this tale: don’t pee in public if you have warrants against you. Two “urinators” tried to run when police spotted them, and one was transported to county jail on outstanding warrants. Moral addendum: don’t urinate in public anyway, even if you don’t have warrants.

7:29am, 1200 block of Broadway Plaza – A Nordstrom employee reported an angry mob of about 30 people waiting for the release of the new Air Jordans, telling her they were not going to leave before acquiring same. People, these are shoes. What the heck?

8:41 am, 1800 block of N. California Blvd. – Someone pried open the front door of this business and stole a 42-inch plasma TV off the wall.

11:02am, 1700 block of Botelho Dr. – A smash-and-grab in a gated garage resulted in the theft of $50,000 worth of medical equipment.

11:50am, 1600 block of N. Broadway – A man in his 20s or 30s wearing a red backpack stole a laptop from the library and ran away.

12:50pm, Broadway Plaza and Capwell Lane – A man reported being poisoned by a chocolate bar given to him by a woman in a Santa hat. It was later determined that the chocolate bar was laced with cannabis.

1:07pm, 1800 block of Pomar Way – A resident reported the theft of gems and jewelry valued at $20,000 after hosting a party.

3:48pm, 1400 block of Mt. Diablo Blvd. – A woman shoplifter was chased out of a store and when confronted, returned the items and brandished a can of pepper spray before running off.

Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012

3:53pm, 1500 block of Cypress St. – A man with a handgun was arrested for suspicion of burglary.

5:20pm, North Civic Dr. and Pine St. – A woman was arrested for driving under the influence.

5:44pm, N. Main and I-680 exit – A man was arrested for driving under the influence.

6:50pm, Oak Grove Rd. and Ygnacio Valley Blvd. – A man dressed in a Marine dress uniform followed a woman after a road rage incident and yelled at her. Police arrived and calmed everyone down, but it must be very scary to be yelled at by a Marine.
