The Weekender: Flappers & Flasks, "Die Fledermaus," Home Expo
As you plan your weekend, here are some of the activities happening in Walnut Creek from Thursday evening to Sunday afternoon.

On Thursday evening, 
the  Planning Commission will hold its regularly scheduled meeting.

The meeting begins at 7 p.m. in City Hall, 1666 N. Main St.

On  the agenda is  a proposal to more than double the size of the existing clubhouse and restaurant at the Diablo Hills Golf Course on Marchbanks Drive.

On Friday evening, a free community yoga class will be offered.

The class begins at 6 p.m. at the Yoga & Movement Center, 1379 Locust St.

Also on Friday evening, a celebration of Walnut Creek's 100th year as a city will be held.

The  "Flappers and Flasks" event is from 8 p.m. to midnight at the  Lesher Center for the Arts, 1601 Civic Drive.

The center will be transformed in an 1914 era speakeasy to kick off a series of events this year to mark Walnut Creek's centennial.

Also on Friday evening, a tale of temptation and revenge will be performed.

The  Lamplighters production of Johann Strauss' "Die Fledermaus" begins at 8 p.m. at the  Lesher Center for the Arts, 1601 Civic Drive.

On Saturday morning, workshop on the job of an animal keeper will be held.

The two-hour session begins at 9 a.m. at the  Lindsay Wildlife Museum, 1931 First Ave.

The workshop is for children ages 6 to 10.

On Saturday evening, another  local performance of "A Chorus Line" will be presented.

The performance by the  Diablo Theatre Company STARS 2000 Teen Theater begins at 8 p.m. at  Las Lomas High School, 1460 S. Main St.

On Sunday, a home expo with remodelers, builders and designers will be held.

The Lamorinda Home Expo '14 is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Building, 3780 Mt. Diablo Blvd. in Lafayette.

The event is geared toward homeowners who are remodeling or updating their homes.
