Walnut Creek Man Held on Weapon Charges

Mauricio Eric Cervantes, 20, was accused of having a stolen, concealed firearm at Wendy's restaurant on North Main Street Wednesday afternoon. No injuries were reported.

Walnut Creek Man Held on Weapon Charges

A 20-year-old Walnut Creek man was arrested for having a concealed, stolen gun inside the Wendy's restaurant, 2955 N. Main St., Wednesday afternoon, police reported.

A Walnut Creek Police Department alert stated that Mauricio Eric Cervantes was charged with:

  • Gang member with concealed firearm
  • Possession of a stolen firearm, and
  • Carrying a concealed firearm.

For public safety, police reported, officers temporarily closed North Main Street between Treat Boulevard and Sunnyvale Avenue during the incident. WCPD officers responded at 3:51 p.m. Wednesday.

Cervantes was booked into the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Department Martinez Detention Facility on $120,000, police reported.

No one was injured in the incident, according to the WCPD alert. The suspect had threatened other patrons in the restaurant, according to an account on the Facebook page of the Walnut Creek Police Association.
