FedEx Worker Falls Asleep In Plane's Cargo Compartment, Wakes Up In Lubbock, Texas

LUBBOCK, TX -- Some of us have fallen asleep on the job, but the repercussions usually don't go much beyond a reprimand from our boss.

Not so for a FedEx airport ground crew employee, according to Fox 13 News. The airport worker was recently taken into custody at Lubbock Preston Smith International Airport after dozing off while in the process of loading a plane in Tennessee and then waking up halfway to Texas.

Once he woke up, he knocked on the closed cockpit door and, presumedly sheepishly, had to inform the captain that he had inadvertently gone from "ground crew" to flight crew.

He was taken into custody by airport police as a precaution, according to media reports. As far as Patch knows, there is no crime against sleeping on the job (a fact for which many of us are thankful).

FedEx released a statement on the incident: "We are aware of an incident involving FedEx Flight 1459 from Memphis to Lubbock. There was never any danger to our employees or cargo. We are fully cooperating with investigating authorities."
