He worked for ABM Electrical & Lighting, which provides electrical and lighting services, according to the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health. San Jose city spokesman David Vossbrink said ABM is a subcontractor for OpTerra Energy Services, a San Francisco firm that has a contract with San Jose to retrofit about 18,000 city streetlights with LED lights.
ABM completed the bulk of its work last month, Vossbrink said. The firm will finish this summer after converting about 200 more lights. Vossbrink said OpTerra has a contract for about one-third of the city’s streetlights.
