What Changes Would You Like to See in Downtown Watsonville?

The City of Watsonville wants to know.

What Changes Would You Like to See in Downtown Watsonville? What Changes Would You Like to See in Downtown Watsonville?

If you could suggest changes to Downtown Watsonville, what would they be? More restaurants? Less traffic? More business?

The City of Watsonville is asking for the public's input on possible Downtown Watsonville changes.

Athough it's not an easy task to make big changes to Downtown, according to the city, because of state Highway 152 and state permits, the city is working to improve the district.

Currently, the city doesn't have control over Downtown Watsonville sidewalks so the city must apply for state permits in order to initiate work on the sidewalks and street, according to the city

According to the city, "the city recently started the process to ask CalTrans to relinquish

Highway 152.  Instead of going through Downtown as is the case now, the State Highway would start at the edge of the City.

This change would allow more parking in Downtown, as well as the ability to create wider sidewalks, allowing restaurants to have outdoor dining areas.

The city is currently asking for the public's help in determining Downtown Watsonville's direction. For more information on how you can help, contact Kurt Overmeyer at 831-768-3087.
