Will You Be at AIDS Walk?

AIDS Walks Los Angeles (AWLA), California's largest AIDS fundraiser, will take place Sunday, Oct. 14, and more than 30,000 participants are expected to attend.

The 28th edition of the AIDS fundraiser will kick off at 10 a.m. and everyone from elected officials to celebrity guests are expected to turn out for the event.

West Hollywood Mayor Jeffrey Prang will join Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa to discuss the status of AIDS/HIV in Los Angeles.

According to AIDS Project Los Angeles, more than 60,000 people are currently living with AIDS/HIV in Los Angeles and every seven days, an Angeleno contracts the disease.

West Hollywood City Councilmen John Duran and John Heilman are also slated to attend Sunday's event.

The Walk will begin at West Hollywood Park on San Vicente Boulevard between Santa Monica Boulevard and Melrose Avenue. A general map of the event can be found here
