The City of West Hollywood’s brought legendary artist Ed Kienholz “back” to one of his old hangouts, , in a unique bartering event earlier this week.

In a tribute to Kienholz’s original Barter Show, held 43 years ago, a group of contemporary artists created 21 works displayed for barter on the walls of the 91-year-old venerable roadhouse, which was a popular gathering spot with artists in the 60s.

The 1969 Barter took place originally at the Eugenia Butler Gallery on La Cienega Boulevard. Then, accepted bartering items at the unique art auction included the trading of two horses for a watercolor.

Three hundred attendees enjoyed some of Barney’s signature chili and Boilermakers, a Kienholz drink of choice, while viewing artwork by Assume Vivid Astro Focus, Walead Beshty, Dike Blair, Liz Craft, Zoe Crosher, Meredith Danluck, Shannon Ebner, Rob Fischer, Brendan Fowler,  Eve Fowler, Jonah Freeman, Ellen Harvey, Anna Sew Hoy, Justin Lowe, Shana Lutker, Dave Muller, Ry Rocklen,  Amanda Ross-Ho, Corazon del Sol, Cole Sternberg and Landon Wiggs.
