USPS Approves Relocation of Weho Post Office

The following is a press release from the U.S. Postal Service.

The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) announced Thursday that it has approved the relocation of the West Hollywood Branch Post Office, located at 820 N. San Vicente Blvd., to a yet-to-be-determined location within the city of West Hollywood and as close to the current site as possible.

A date for the move has not been established at this time. There will be no change in West Hollywood Post Office Box numbers or ZIP Code.

A community meeting was held at West Hollywood Park Auditorium on Nov. 15, 2012, and a written public comment period was open from Oct. 31 through Nov. 30, 2012, to gather customer comments. The relocation proposal and all public input received were then forwarded to USPS Headquarters in Washington, D.C., where a decision was made to move forward with the plan.

The decision may be appealed for 15 days. An appeal must be postmarked on or before Feb. 8, 2013, and mailed to:

Vice President, Facilities
Facilities Implementation
1300 Evans Ave. Ste. 200
San Francisco, CA 94188-0200

This cost-reduction plan is part of a nationwide response by the Postal Service to maintain universal service in the face of dramatic decreases in mail volume, the failure of Congress to pass comprehensive postal legislation and other economic factors that have caused net losses of over $35 billion in the past five years. USPS does not receive tax dollars for its operations or facilities.
