West Hollywood Sheriff’s deputies take Frazier Lee Vedin into custody Tuesday morning on suspicion of attempting to stab a local man.

Wanted Knife Assault Suspect Detained

A man suspected of assaulting someone at knifepoint near Crescent Heights Boulevard and Fountain Avenue was taken into custody Tuesday.

West Hollywood Sheriff's deputies detained 51-year-old Frazier Lee Vedin near the on Santa Monica Boulevard and La Cienega, according to a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department release. Vedin has admitted to being involved in an altercation with a victim that occurred late last month.

A West Hollywood man was attacked while walking along Crescent Heights Boulevard in the afternoon on Jan. 25. At around 2:25 p.m., a male transient aggressively grabbed the front of the victim's shirt while yelling derogatory remarks regarding his sexual orientation.

The suspect then pulled out a 3-inch folding knife and attempted to stab the victim, yelling "I will kill you" before fleeing southbound on Crescent Heights Boulevard on bicycle.

The L.A. County Sheriff’s Department circulated a special bulletin Feb. 1 containing a color photograph of the suspect depicted with a distinctive mustache, facial hair, sunglasses, and a Harley Davidson ball cap.

A sergeant on patrol Tuesday morning allegedly spotted a man that resembled the description leaving the on Holloway Drive. The suspect was identified as Frazier Lee Vedin and detained by responding units at around 7:08 a.m., according to the sheriff's report.

Based on this information, detectives will present the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney at Beverly Hills Court, seeking charges of terrorist threats and hate crime allegations, according to Detective Greg Boagni of the .
