Scrap Pile Fire Burns In Colorado Springs
Springs firefighters used heavy equipment to pull away scrap metal to douse a blaze in a rural area near southeast Colorado Springs.

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO -- Firefighters battled a smokey blaze that burned in a scrap metal pile Monday afternoon in southeast Colorado Springs.
The blaze started at the EVRAZ Recycling facility, in the 2600 block of East Las Vegas St. The fire department used "large diameter hose lines, ladder pipe, deck gun on engines," they tweeted.
Firefighters used heavy equipment pull away scrap and douse areas under the pile. Firefighters also watched for "possible airborne embers," that might start brush fires, in the surrounding area. The county was under a Red Flag alert for fire danger Monday due to winds and dry, warm weather.
