Lakewood Woman Killed In Fiery C-470 Crash
Two people who were killed in a crash on C-470 have been identified.
JEFFERSON COUNTY, CO — Two people who were killed Thursday in a fiery crash on C-470 have been identified, and the cause of the deadly crash has been determined, authorities said. A front tire on a semi truck blew out and the vehicle crossed the median, crashing into westbound traffic, according to Colorado State Patrol.
The semi was eastbound on C-470 in the left lane between Ken Caryl and Bowles avenues at about 11 a.m. when its front left tire blew out and the driver lost control, CSP said. The truck reared off the left side of the highway and then crashed through a guardrail into oncoming traffic. A Nissan Pathfinder was hit and both vehicles went through a concrete barrier down an embankment. The Nissan ended up underneath the truck, CSP said.
The drivers of both vehicles were pronounced dead at the scene.
