Easter 2016 in Connecticut: Egg Hunts, Bunny Breakfasts and More

Hippity hoppity, Easter's on it's way! And so is the Easter Bunny! Here's our guide of where to see him, take photos and hunt for eggs.

Easter comes this year on Sunday, March 27 but the Easter Bunny has already been making appearances, hopping all over Connecticut. Here's where you can see him in your area. Click the links for more information.

Bethel

  • Bethel Parks & Recreation Egg Hunt: Saturday, March 19 at 10 a.m. in the gym of the Bethel Municipal Center, 1 School Street, Bethel
  • Hollandia Garden Center Egg Hunt: Saturday, March 26, 10 a.m., 103 Old Hawleyville Road, Bethel, ages 10 and under, bring your own basket, search for the golden egg and win a prize and meet the Easter Bunny!

Branford

  • Branford Easter Egg Hunt: Saturday, March 19, 2016, 11 a.m., Foote Park – Melrose Avenue. Free admission. Age groups: 4 years and younger, 5-6 years old, 7-8 years old, 9-10 years old.

Brookfield

  • Brookfield High School Bunny Breakfast: Brookfield High School cafeteria, 45 Long Meadow Hill Rd., Brookfield, 8 a.m. - 11:30 a.m., $8 kids 10 and under, $11 adults, $46 family max. Visit with the Easter Bunny and benefit Brookfield Oddessey of the Mind.
  • Brookfield Town Hall Egg Hunt: Saturday, March 19 at 12 p.m. for ages 1-8, $1 each, 100 Pocono Road, Brookfield

Danbury

  • Stew Leonard's Bunny Breakfast: Bacon, sausage, eggs, hash browns, pancakes, fruit, juice and coffee. Each child gets a Stewie the Duck book and Easter Coloring Activity sheets.   • Stew Leonard's Easter Egg Hunt Eggs-Travaganza: Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at 4 p.m., 99 Federal Road, collect eggs from costumed characters, each egg contains prizes ranging from candy and board games to toys and gift cards. One lucky child will win the Egg Hunt’s grand prize! The event is free!
  • Danbury Railway Museum Train Ride with the Easter Bunny: Sat. March 19, Sun. March 20, Fri. March 25, Sat. March 26. Trains every 30 minutes from 12:30-3:30 p.m. $10 ages 2+ up, under 24 months, free.   • Easter Bunny at the Farm: Saturday, March 19, games, face painting, an Easter egg hunt. 232 Town Street, East Haddam, 11 a.m. - 2 p.n. East Haven

  • The Shore Line Trolley Museum Easter Bunny Trolley: Saturday, March 19, 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Trolleys leave every half hour, 17 River St., East Haven. Adults: $10, seniors (62+), $8, children (2-15), $6, under age 2 are free. No reservations needed. Ride a 100-year-old trolley to meet the Easter Bunny on his very own trolley car.

East Windsor

  • Connecticut Trolley Museum: Saturday, March 26, 10 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Visit the Easter Bunny, go on a trolley ride, get your face painted and more!

Fairfield

  • Connecticut Audubon Society Fairfield Egg Hunt: Saturday, March 26, 2016, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m., Egg hunts at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Egg hunt, crafts and a visit from a special bunny. Morning hunt has a continental breakfast and afternoon hunt includes healthy snacks. Preregistration required. $10/child and $5/adult for members, $15/child and $5/adult for non-members. The event is held rain or shine. Bring a basket for egg collecting. The Egg Hunt starts promptly at the beginning of the session. Register online at Children under 2 are free.   • Fairfield Parks and Recreation Department Egg Hunt: Saturday, March 19, 2016. Meet the Easter Bunny. South Pine Creek Soccer Field on Old Dam Road. Pre-school children to 3rd graders should bring their Easter Baskets to the South Pine Creek Soccer Field on Old Dam Road. The Egg Hunt starts at 1 p.m. sharp, but all are encouraged to come down early and meet the Easter Bunny. $1 donation for Town Youth Council fundraiser. Farmington

  • Farmington Miniature Golf & Ice Cream Parlor’s 20th Annual Easter Egg Hunt: Saturday, March 26, Route 4, Farmington. $2 donation to the Our Companions Domestic Animal Sanctuary. 11:15 for kids 2 and under. 12 p.m. for 3 & 4 year olds. 12:45 for 5 & 6 year olds (children only – no parents). 1:15 for 7-9 year olds (children only – no parents). 2:15 for Sensory Friendly and All Accessible (adults as needed). Glastonbury

  • Easter Egg Hunt for Dogs in Glastonbury: Saturday, March 28 at 10 a.m., Glastonbury Dog Park. Appalachian Tails are sponsoring the event and supplying biscuits and coupons. Admission will be $10/dog and the egg hunting will begin at 10 a.m.

Greenwich

  • Presbyterian Church of Old Greenwich Easter Egg Hunt: 38 West End Ave., 3,000 eggs, face painting, crafts, food and an Easter message. Free and open to the public. Saturday, March 19 at 10 a.m. Rain date March 26.

Groton

  • Easter Egg Hunt and Face Painting: Groton Regency Retirement, 1145 Poquonnock Road, Groton. Children age 10 and under. Easter Egg Hunt and face painting on Saturday, March 19, 10:30 a.m., rain (inside) or shine (outside). Bring your Easter Basket! Cost is free!

Madison

Meriden

  • Hubbard Park Easter Egg Hunt: Saturday, March 26, 2016, birth to age 3 at 10 a.m.; Ages 4-5 at 10:30 a.m.; Ages 6-7 at 11 a.m.; Ages 8 and older at 11:30 a.m. Parental assistance will only be allowed in the first age group.   • Annual Egg Hunt at Quassy: Quassy Amusement Park, Rt. 64 (2132 Middlebury Road), Middlebury, April 23 & 24, 3 p.m. $45 a carload. Up to 10 persons in a vehicle receive an all-day ride wristband for only $45, parking included. Offer valid both days with rides open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Egg hunt for prizes at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 24.

Monroe

  • Monroe UMC Egg Hunt is full!
  • Annual Spring Egg Hunt: Saturday, March 26, Time: 9 a.m. – 10:15 a.m. Rain date: April 2, 2016. Webb Mountain Discovery Zone, 52 Webb Circle, Monroe. $6 per child (adults are free). Space is limited to 30 families per session. IHunt for eggs decorated to resemble hawk, pheasant, eastern bluebird, blackbird & falcon eggs and then learn about native birds and birds of prey with a live bird show hosted by the Connecticut Audubon.

Mystic

  • Old Mistick Village Easter Egg Hunt: Saturday, March 26, 27 Coogan Blvd., Mystic. Meet Mr. Bunny! He will be in the Gazebo on the Village green for a special egg and hug for two year olds and younger from 12 Noon to 1 p.m. 3-year-olds hunt for eggs at 12:00 sharp in the Apple Orchard. 4-year-olds at 12:15 p.m. 5-7 year olds at 12:30 p.m. 8-10 year olds at 12:45 p.m.
  • The Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center: Stroll the trails in search of wooden eggs and meet DPNC’s egg-laying friends as you go. Bring your eggs back to our Creation Stations to paint and decorate in your own unique way! Participants limited to 4 eggs each. Pre-registration required. dpnc.org. New Canaan

  • Young Women's League Easter Egg Hunt: Saturday, March 19, 2016, Festivities Kickoff & Bake Sale at 9 a.m., Easter Egg Hunt at 10:30 a.m., Waveny Park, 10,000 Easter Eggs, the Dixie Land Band, bounce houses, bunny ears, face painting, photo opportunities with Mr. & Mrs. Bunny and cupcakes. In the event of inclement weather the Easter Egg Hunt will take place on the same day at New Canaan High School.

Newtown

  • Dickinson Park Egg Hunt: Dickinson Park pavilion, for children between ages 3 and 8, Saturday, March 19, 10 to 11:15 a.m. with a visit from the Spring Bunny. Kids should bring baskets to hold eggs.

Orange

  • Orange Easter Egg Hunt: PEZ Visitor Center, Saturday March 26, 2016, 10:30 a.m. – 1 p.m., PEZ Visitor Center, 35 Prindle Hill Road, Orange. The egg hunt is free – regular admission rates apply to the Visitor Center.The Easter Bunny will be inside the Visitor Center from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Oxford

  • Oxford Easter Egg Hunt, Saturday, March 19, 1 p.m., Quaker Farms School Field, 30 Great Oak Road, Oxford. For grades Pre-K through Second grade, Oxford residents only. Easter Bunny arrives at 12:30 for pictures. Prizes for everyone.

Portland

  • Riverfront Park Easter Egg Hunt: Saturday, March 19, 2016, 10 a.m. Ages 1 - 10. Entry is a non-perishable food item. Participants should bring their own Easter Egg hunting basket.

Redding

  • New Pond Farm Easter Egg Hunt: Now Full but they are taking a waiting list. Call (203) 938-2117. Saturday March 19, 11 a.m. (rain date: March 26) Toddlers to teens will hunt for hand-dyed eggs. Different areas for each age group, and great prizes for all. $15 per child.

  • Easter Bunny Breakfast at the Lounsbury House: Sunday, March 20, two seatings at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Brunch with adult and children’s menu items. Rowayton

  • Rowayton Community Center Easter Egg Hunt: Saturday, March 26 at 10 a.m. Meet the Easter Bunny and participate in RCA’s annual Easter Egg Hunt. Parents drop off six plastic eggs filled with candy, snacks or coins for each participating child to Paul Bartilucci at 5 Richmond Road on Friday, March 25 between 12 noon and 8 p.m. Eggs may also be dropped off at the Community Center field before 9:30 a.m. on the day of the hunt. Bring your own hard-boiled eggs for decorating first and a long-handled wooden spoon (or use ours). Dance the Bunny Hop and meet the Easter Bunny himself. Stamford

  • 12th Annual Heckscher Farm Egg Hunt: Saturday, March 26, 10 am - noon. Children ages six and younger can bring their own baskets and search for eggs hidden on Heckscher Farm. Parents and older siblings are welcome to come along. Gates open at 10 a.m. One goody bag will be provided for each child age six and younger. Stonington
