Will Duracell Be the Next Big Company to Leave Connecticut?
The company announced in a job posting that Bethel-based Duracell intends to relocate its corporate headquarters to Chicago.
BETHEL, CT-- Connecticut may be losing yet another corporation, fresh off the heels of Fairfield-based General Electric's announcement to moving their corporate offices from Connecticut to Boston.
Duracell, previously owned by Procter & Gamble and based in Bethel, Conn., recently advertised a job opening for an IT Specialist in Chicago, IL. The Simply Hired posting stated that Berkshire Hathaway has "announced its intent to acquire Duracell by the end of 2015 and Duracell will relocate its corporate headquarters to Chicago."

The News Times reported on Wednesday that the battery maker and Berkshire Hathaway not made an official announcement designating Chicago as Duracell’s new headquarters, however, the online job posting says otherwise.
CIncinatti.com reported that Duracell's sale to Berkshire Hathaway affects 2,700 Duracell employees worldwide.
“Duracell is a strong, global business with a great future ahead of it as part of the Berkshire Hathaway family. We thank Duracell’s employees for their many contributions to P&G and wish them continued success for the future,” P&G CEO David Taylor told the paper.
Duracell is located at 14 Research Drive in Bethel.
