The top spot in Bethany Public Schools will be vacant, but the Board of Education plans to hire someone with the help of some community input.

Bethany School Board Seeks New Superintendent

The Bethany Board of Education picked an executive recruitment firm to fill the vacant superintendent position in the school district. With the firm hired, focus groups involving staff members, parents, students and others will begin later this month.

Former Superintendent Tim Connellan , creating the vacancy in the leadership position.

The Connecticut Association of Boards of Education Search Services specializes in recruitment in the education in the state. According to their website, they worked with Amity Regional District 5, Oxford Public Schools and other districts in the past several years.

“Our Board is committed to including the community in this process and is currently seeking input related to the characteristics and leadership qualities desired in the next educational leader,” said Bethany School Board Chairman Brian Fournier. “Mr. Timothy Connellan will be leaving this summer.  He has served our community well and we wish to build on the strengths in place as we seek our next leader.”

The first focus group will be on Wednesday, July 18 and others are scheduled.  The districts says anyone who is unable to attend a focus group can complete a Superintendent Search Survey available at www.bethany-ed.org. Forms are due on July 31.

“We encourage community members to participate in the superintendent search process by sharing their personal insights about our school and suggesting qualities they would like to see in the next superintendent,” Fournier said.
