Brookfield Health Dept Has Free Testing Kits for National Radon Action Month

Radon testing kits available weekdays in the Health Department offices.

Brookfield Health Dept Has Free Testing Kits for National Radon Action Month
January is National Radon Action Month and, once again, the Brookfield Health Department in cooperation with the State Department of Public Health is offering free Radon testing kits to Brookfield residents for use in private homes.

Radon can pose a serious health risk. It is a colorless, tasteless and odorous gas that has been implicated as the second leading cause of Lung Cancer in the United States.

It has been found in every state and levels can vary greatly from neighborhood to neighborhood and from home to home.

It is measured in picocuries per liter of air with an upper level of 4 pCi per liter.

The free testing will provide an accurate measurement of your home’s potential exposure. Kits may be picked up at the Brookfield Health Department weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and are accompanied by postage-free mailing envelopes, as well.

Based off a release from the Brookfield Health Department.
