Local officials will host a public hearing on the rezoning of Satan's Kingdom, LLC, will be held on Wednesday, May 28.
The town's Economic Development Commission and First Selectman Dan Jerram support the application, which would build an industrial park on 17 presently vacant acres along Route 44.
Opposition points to the Farmington River, which the federal government designated as wild and scenic in 1944. The industrial park would be only 100 feet away from the Farmington River.
Many of the residents opposed to the development have organized through Facebook under the name Save Satan's Kingdom. They are urging a large turnout at the public hearing.
