Cheshire Police Charge Burglary Ring Suspects

Warrants issued in three-month old burglary case.

Cheshire Police Charge Burglary Ring Suspects

Two suspects wanted on burglary charges were served arrest warrants  by Cheshire police after a three-month long investigation stemming from initial arrests in Fairfield County.

Cheshire police records show Nelson Rivera, 24, of Trumbull was charged on Sept. 5 with larceny in the third degree. Rivera came to local police attention after he was charged in July by Darien police with 16 counts of third-degree burglary from a motor vehicle and other charges.

The Cheshire charges against Rivera are based on arrests of what Darien police described as a "burglary ring." Property recovered during the Nelson's initial arrest was traced to items allegedly stolen from Cheshire, Meriden, North Haven and five other Connecticut towns.

A second warrant in the case was served Sept. 6 on Livelle Sampson, 21, of Bridgeport, who was charged by Cheshire police with fourth degree larceny from a motor vehicle and illegal use of a credit card under $500. Sampson had been charged by Darien police in July with 17 counts of third-degree burglary from a motor vehicle, one count of first-degree burglary and conspiracy to commit burglary.

Officer Erick Tracy conducted the investigation after burglary incidents occurred in Cheshire on June 19.
