Crews Extinguish Van, Brush Fire On I-84 In Cheshire
Crews used approximately 1,500 gallons of water to extinguish a van fire that also started a brush fire off I-84, according to officials.
CHESHIRE, CT — Cheshire firefighters extinguished a fire involving a work van that also started a brush fire off I-84 West on Thursday, according to officials.
The Cheshire Fire Department responded to a report of a vehicle fire in the area of Exit 26 on I-84 West.
“Upon arrival Car 12 found a well involved work van which had also started a 30’ by 40’ brush fire,” officials wrote in a post on the Cheshire Volunteer Fire Department’s Facebook page. “Engines 3 and 4 responded and extinguished the fire with approximately 1,500 gallons of water. Due to Car 12’s initial scene size-up Engine 2 also responded but was not utilized. Dispatchers were able to provide an exact location and real time updates before CFD arrival via the CDOT traffic cameras.”
