Body Recovered From Pond In Search For Missing Swimmer: Cheshire PD
Crews were searching for an 18-year-old who was last seen swimming in the pond at Mixville Park in Cheshire, according to police.

CHESHIRE, CT — A body was recovered from the pond at Mixville Park in Cheshire where crews were searching for a missing 18-year-old swimmer, police said in an update Monday evening.
The body was found around 4:20 p.m. on Monday, according to Lt. Jeffrey Sutherland. Crews were searching for an 18-year-old boy who was last seen swimming on Sunday afternoon.
Police responded to Mixville Park in Cheshire around 4:20 p.m. on July 10 on the report of a teenager who had gone missing, according to Sutherland.

Sutherland said the teenager was last seen swimming in the pond at Mixville Park.
“Cheshire Fire Department personnel responded to the scene and initiated a search of the surface of the pond utilizing their Fire Department boats,” Sutherland wrote in a news release. “A search of the surrounding land areas including the building within Mixville Park was conducted by Cheshire Police Department officers.

“Members of the Region #5 Dive Team responded to the scene to assist with the search of the body of water.”
The search was suspended around 9 p.m., according to Sutherland.
Sutherland said Mixville Park was closed to all patrons, and Cheshire police maintained the scene throughout the night.
The search resumed at 8 a.m. on Monday, and the body was recovered around 4:20 p.m., according to Sutherland.
Sutherland said the office of the state's Chief Medical Examiner will be responding to the scene and an "autopsy will be conducted for the purposes of identification and a determination of the cause of death."
