Holiday Weekend Sobriety Checkpoints:
Cheshire Police held two checkpoints Friday evening from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Academy Road and on Highland Avenue near the police station.
Sixteen stops were made at the Academy Road location where two tickets were issued for seat belt violations, according to police spokesman Lt. James Fasano. He said a number of written warnings were issued for minor violations at both sites but that no DUI arrests were made at either checkpoint.
Extra police patrols were in force on Thursday night, Fasano said, when one DUI arrest was made. The person's name has not yet been released.

Tuesday, May 24
Cheshire police officer Lorin Webber, 32, was operating a town-owned police vehicle when a car driven by Wayne Tapley, 62, of Oakville collided with the cruiser. The accident occurred on West Main Street at around 5:30 a.m. near the Cheshire Lutheran Church.
Webber, who was traveling westbound, stopped in the far right portion of the lane about 100 feet west of Jocelyn Lane, after he saw Tapley driving erratically. Webber's cruiser was then struck head-on by Tapley after he crossed the double yellow line traveling east.
Tapley was found to be unconscious after the collision and the cause of the crash was determined to be from a medical emergency which caused Tapley to lose control of his vehicle.
Tapley was transported to Waterbury Hospital by Campion Ambulance. Officer Webber was not injured.

Michael Casso, 25, of 645 Ives Row was cited for failure to wear seat belt on West Main Street at 12:31 p.m.

Donald Cipriano, 28, of Prospect was cited for allowing his dog to roam free at 1692 Plank Road.
Michael Apuzzo, 22, of Hamden was arrested at 250 Fenn Road at 1:07 p.m. following police response to a reported burglary attempt. Apuzzo was found entering a vehicle on a neighboring street after police had received information he had headed towards the general area where he was detained. Apuzzo was processed at police headquarters where he was held on a $25,000 bond and charged with burglary in the third-degree, second-degree criminal mischief, and fourth-degree larceny.
Caroline Gigantino, 46, of Hamden was cited for a cell phone violation on West Main Street at 4:00 p.m.
Kris Belanger, 37, of Southington was cited for failure to wear seat belt on West main Street at 4:24 p.m.
Luis Jaramillo, 47, of 1564 Waterbury Rd. was cited for a cell phone violation on West Main Street at 4:37 p.m.
Thursday, May 26
Joseph Dupere, 32, of Bristol was charged with failure to have insurance and operating an unregistered motor vehicle on Highland Avenue at 9:31 a.m.
Christopher Ryan, 27, of Woodbury was charged with shoplifting and conspiracy to shoplift at 1:45 p.m. after turning himself in at police headquarters on a warrant.
Friday, May 27
Quentin Claude, 27, of New Haven was charged with operating a motor vehicle on a suspended license and failure to obey a traffic control signal on Highland Avenue at 7:19 a.m.
John Kubilus, 19, of 18 Chamberlin Court was arrested at 480 Mount Sanford Road at 6:01 p.m. and was charged with simple trespass and third-degree criminal mischief.

Mashal Afzal, 20, of 35 Mountain Brook Drive was cited for failure to wear seat belt and was also charged with operating a motor vehicle on a suspended license at 1:42 p.m.
Henry Adobor, 54, of 44 Maplehurst Court was arrested at his residence for disorderly conduct at 3:34 p.m. (Editor's note: This case was disposed of on Aug. 30.)

Kelly Milone, 24, of Monroe was arrested for driving under the influence on Cook Hill Road at 12:16 a.m. and was also charged with failure to drive right.
Alberto Crocco, 25, of Hamden was arrested for driving under the influence on South Main Street at 2:50 a.m. and was also charged with failure to drive right.
Jacqueline Hogan, 61, of West Haven was charged with operating an unregistered motor vehicle on Byam Road at 4:36 p.m.
Monday, May 30
Jordan Galasso, 19, of 117 Jinny Hill Rd. and Jeffrey Woodworth, 18, of 20 Riverview Court were both charged with possession of alcohol by a minor at 943 S. Main Street at 12:48 a.m.
Dwight Sturgeon, 45, of Terryville and Nicole Oullet, 39, of Bristol were arrested at 524 W. Johnson Avenue following response to a phone call of a theft in progress at around 4:21 p.m. Upon investigation at the scene, it was found both had attempted to steal steel rods from the property. They were charged with larceny in the sixth degree and criminal trespassing in the third degree. Sturgeon was also charged with operating a motor vehicle on a suspended license and operating an unregistered motor vehicle.

Brian Geoffroy, 23, of 2144 Waterbury Road Apt. 3 was charged with failure to have insurance and operating an unregistered motor vehicle on Meriden Road at 12:40 a.m.
MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENTS
Wednesday, May 11
Theresa Stone, 39, of Plantsville was involved in a car accident with Robert Rosko II at 2:13 p.m. as she was stopped at a commercial driveway waiting to cross Jarvis Street and enter another driveway on the other side of Jarvis. Stone reportedly looked left and right before proceeding but did not notice any traffic prior to proceeding. Stone then collided with Rosko who was traveling westbound on Jarvis Street and stated to police that she did not see him until the collision. Stone was cited for failure to grant right of way and neither vehicle was towed from the scene.
Saturday, May 14
Elizabeth Went, 66, of Killingworth was involved in a car accident with Steven Wilson, 25, of Middlebury at 1:21 p.m. as both vehicle proceeded through the intersection of Peck Lane and Jarvis Street. Went, who was stopped southbound on Peck Lane struck Wilson as he was attempting to cross the intersection traveling west on Jarvis Street. Both drivers stated they looked left and right at the intersection but did not see any other cars stopped. Both vehicle were towed from the scene and Went was cited with failure to obey a stop sign.
Monday, May 23
Daniel Camilleri, 21, of 70 Philson Court was involved in a three car accident at 2:57 p.m. as two other vehicles in front of him were stopped behind another motorist who was turning left onto Woodridge Road from Waterbury Road. Camilleri was unable to stop in time before hitting the vehicle in front of him, operated by Terril Powell, 39, of Waterbury. The force of the collision had caused Powell's vehicle to strike the vehicle in front of him, operated by Meg Palmatier, 53, of Woodbridge, who was stopped for the vehicle in front of her who was making the left turn. No injuries were reported and Camilleri was cited for failure to travel a reasonable distance apart from another vehicle.
