All you have to do is turn on your computer or television to see the devastation in New York and other states caused by Hurricane Sandy.

Volunteers in Clinton are collecting items for victims in New York and you can help!

Susan and Joe Salemi, like many others, have been watching the news in New York and wanted to do something to help those folks who lost everything.

"My husband and I decided to rent a truck and drive down there ourselves because the people on the news really touched our hearts," said Susan Salemi.

They are heading to the community of SeaGate, Brooklyn to provide its residents with supplies, food and baby items. (See list below of what items are especially needed.)

Mike and Donna Galwey from D&M Storage and Truck Rental on Nod Road are donating the use of a truck for free, said Salemi.

"I called a few businesses but Mike offered out of the goodness of his heart," she said.

The biggest problem they'll have are too many donations.

"If we get more donations than we can fit, we'll do two runs to New York," said Salemi. "I'm grateful our pastor is letting us use the church as a drop off location."

If you would like to donate, please bring your items to the Cornerstone Community Church parking lot, located at 4 Heritage Park Drive in Clinton.  Heritage Drive is just off Old Post Road/Route 145.

The dates of collection are Friday, Nov. 16 from 4pm to 7pm and on Saturday, Nov. 17 from 7am to 9am.

The most needed items include:

Batteries

Flashlights

Candles

Blankets

Coats

Baby formula

Kids Tylenol and/or Kids Benadryl

Work Gloves

Rubber gloves

Bleach

Garbage bags

Water

Non-perishable foods that can be cooked on a gas top
