The case against Robert Bell of New Fairfield, who is charged with shooting his wife in their home on Dec. 8, moved forward in Danbury Superior Court Wednesday when the court returned a computer to the victim's daughter.
The daughter, who has not been identified in court, filed a motion in court to get her computer back, because she is a college student. Police took the computer from the family's home to see if messages between the daughter and her parents might shed light on the case. The court copied the computer's hard drive before returning it.
Bell remains in custody on a $750,000 bond. Bell had no prior criminal record and he has family in the area.
Police were called to the New Fairfield home at about 7 p.m. Dec. 8. Svetlana Bell was on the kitchen floor with gunshot wounds to the chest, according to police. She was pronounced dead at Danbury Hospital.
Svetlana Bell, 47, was a music teacher at Wilton's Cider Mill School, and a member of the Danbury Symphony Orchestra. The case was continued in Danbury Superior Court to Friday.
