Danbury Population hits 80,893, 7.4 percent higher than 2000 Census
Danbury is growing faster than Fairfield County and the state, according to latest Census figures released Wednesday.

Danbury's population grew faster than Fairfield County's and the state of Connecticut's in the last decade, according to the lastest Census figures released Wednesday. Danbury's Hispanic and Latino population grew at the fastest rate of any population groups. It was 71 percent higher in 2010 than it was in 2000.
Danbury's population reached 80,893, up 8 percent over the 2000 population of 74,848. The city's 8 percent increase is well ahead of Fairfield County's 3.9 percent increase in that decade. Danbury's 8 percent increase is also well ahead of the state of Connecticut's 4.9 percent increase.
The city's white population dipped by about 1.7 percent, while the Asian population rose by 34 percent, second only to the growth among Latinos and Hispanics at 71 percent. In Danbury, whites make up 68.2 percent of the city's population, according to the 2010 Census figures.
