Rose Straiton, 94, of Danbury, Passed Away

She was a graduate of St. Joseph School and Danbury High School, Class of 1940.

Rose (Valluzzo) Straiton, 94, of Danbury, beloved wife of the late Walter Straiton, Jr., died peacefully at Hancock Hall, with her daughters by her side, on Wednesday, April 6th. She was born in Danbury on January 25, 1922, daughter of the late Charles and Celestine (Barbarita) Valluzzo. She was a graduate of St. Joseph School and Danbury High School, Class of 1940.

Rose was a lifelong parishioner of St. Joseph Church in Danbury, and was a past member of the Colonna Women's Lodge. She loved to read, watch Turner Classic Movies, and most importantly spend time with her family.
She will be sadly missed by her two daughters, Celeste Waters and her husband, Calvin of Bethel, and Lisa Peck and her husband, Arthur, Jr., of Rochester, NH; her daughter-in-law, Marguerite Straiton of New Fairfield; her five grandchildren, Christopher Waters and his wife, Amy, Stephanie Waters, Courtney Kowcheris and her husband, Jeremy, Melissa Tohill and her husband, Bill, and Daniel Straiton and his wife, Jennifer. She is also survived by eight great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her son, Walter J. Straiton, III; her sisters, Vincetta, Lillian, and Anna; and her brother, Rocco.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, April 9th at 1:00pm at St. Joseph Church, Danbury. Burial in St. Peter Cemetery will follow.

The family will receive friends at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Saturday morning between the hours of 10:30am and 12:30pm.
