Troopers: Prior Conviction Leads to Felony DWI

A 34-year-old Danbury man, who was previously convicted of drunken driving, was charged with felony driving while intoxicated after a recent traffic stop in Southeast, officials say.

Troopers from the Southeast Barracks of the New York State Police arrested Kent C. Mongillo at about 2:40 a.m. Sunday. He was operating a 2010 Mazda MX6 when they stopped him near the intersection of Route 22 and Sodom Road for following too closely and failing to keep right, according to authorities.

Mongillo is alleged to have had a blood-alcohol level of 0.10 percent. The legal limit is 0.08. Police arrested the defendant on a felony charge after discovering a prior conviction for driving while intoxicated within the last 10 years. Additional details were unavailable.

Officials released Mongillo pending a Nov. 27 appearance in Southeast Justice Court.
