New Assistant Principal Hired for Ox Ridge School

Ox Ridge School has a new vice principal: Kristin Goldstein, an assistant principal in Greenwich Public Schools, has accepted Darien Public Schools' offer for the elementary school position.

Greenwich's loss is Darien's gain.

The Greenwich Board of Education, and the Darien board, have announced that Kristen Goldstein, assistant principal in Greenwich's Cos Cob Elementary School, has accepted a similar post at the in Darien.

For the past two years, Goldstein has served as the assistant principal at Cos Cob School in Greenwich and previously worked as an interim assistant principal at Parkway School in Greenwich, the school where she worked as a classroom teacher and Mathematics Learning Facilitator since 2000. Goldstein began her teaching career in the Hallandale Public Schools in Florida in 1994.

Goldstein will replace Luke Forshaw, who recently was appointed the principal at Ox Ridge.

In a prepared statement released by Greenwich Public Schools, Goldstein said, “Leaving Greenwich is difficult for me, however for personal and family reasons the position in Darien is a great opportunity for me. I have spent the last twelve years working with an incredible group of administrators, teachers, parents and students.

"I couldn't have asked for a better experience than the one I have had in this district. It has truly shaped me into the educator that I am today.”

Cos Cob School Principal Kim Beck said, “Since her arrival to Cos Cob, Kristin has provided unparalleled instructional leadership both within the general education and special education programming. Her work with staff, students, and parents has been exemplary. We will truly miss her professionalism and kind heart at Cos Cob School.”

Goldstein came to Greenwich and Parkway School in 2000 and has contributed to school and district support and improvement efforts. She led and was a member of Parkway School’s Strategic Improvement Team.

She mentored teachers new to the profession, coached teachers new to the Everyday Math program across the district, acted as a math facilitator for the school, and was a member of Parkway’s Student Assistance Team.

In January 2010, Ms. Goldstein was appointed as the interim assistant principal at Parkway School, and the following July was assigned as the assistant principal for Cos Cob School.

During her time at Cos Cob School, Goldstein was a member of the School Data Team, the Student Assistance Team (SAT) facilitator, and a member of the District’s Administrator Evaluation Plan Committee. She has also participated in numerous district curriculum reviews including math, science and social studies.

Goldstein received her bachelor's degree in psychology at the State University of New York in Albany in 1992; her master's in elementary education from the College of Saint Rose in Albany in 1993; and her professional diploma in educational leadership from Sacred Heart University in 2007.
