At 12:09 a.m. on Saturday, a police officer saw a 2003 Chevrolet van travelling north on Hoyt Street with defective tail lights. The van was also swerving within its lane and sometimes crossed over the center line.

The officer stopped the car on Hoyt Street near Woodway Road. The driver, John Lauture of Little Deer Road in Bridgeport, initially told the officer he was Ron Lauture, although the officer was able to determine Lauture's correct first name.

He was later released on $5,000 bond pending his appearance Aug 28 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
