Security Company Ranks Darien Third Safest Community in Connecticut

A comparison of crime statistics done by a company that sells security cameras ranks Darien as the third safest community in all of Connecticut.

Only Ridgefield and Weston ranked higher in a list of the 20 safest municipalities in the state.

The list was put together by Safe Choice Security, a Jacksonville, FL-based company that also issued rankings for other states.

Also on the Connecticut list (full list at the bottom of this article) were nearby Wilton (No. 4), Easton (No. 5), Redding (6), Greenwich (7) and New Canaan (8). Of the top 10 towns, eight were in Fairfield County.

A news release from the Darien Police Department said:

“Safe Choice Security consulted the 2012 FBI Crime Statistics report to get the inside scoop on the 20 safest cities to live in Connecticut.

“ After comparing FBI statistics on property and violent crime rates in cities around Connecticut, the top 20 safest cities and towns in Connecticut were determined.

“Noted in their evaluation, Safe Choice Security explains, “What is surprising is that despite its proximity to New York state, it (Darien) is indeed the 3rd safest city in the state.”
